Equation Station SA ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Information We Collect

We may collect personal information such as your name and contact details when you reach out to us via WhatsApp or email with feedback or resource suggestions. Certain technical information may also be collected automatically by third-party services used on the website, such as analytics, cookies, advertising tools, device information, and browsing activity.

If you create an Equation Station SA account, we collect your email address to send you a one-time "magic link" sign-in email, and we store a login session token in a cookie on your device so you stay signed in. An account is optional and is not required to access the free learning resources.

Payment Information

If you make a one-time donation through our Donate page, that payment is also processed by Paystack. Donations are anonymous on our side — we do not ask for or store your name or email address for a donation, only the amount and date, as a simple internal record. Paystack's own checkout page may still collect an email or card details directly from you as part of processing the payment; we never see or store those.

How We Use Your Information

Information you provide is used to respond to enquiries, process feedback, sign you in when you choose to use an account, record anonymous donation transactions, and improve our educational resources. Technical information collected through third-party services may be used to understand website usage, improve the site, and serve advertising. We do not sell your personal information.

Data Retention

We keep your account email for as long as your account exists, and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed for legal or support reasons. Donation records contain the amount, currency and payment reference but no donor identity. Login-link tokens expire and are deleted automatically after 15 minutes or first use; session cookies expire automatically after 30 days. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see "Your Rights" below).

Cookies and Advertising

This website uses services such as Google Analytics and Google AdSense. These services may use cookies and similar technologies to measure website traffic and display advertisements. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. We also set one strictly-necessary cookie of our own (a login session token) if you sign in to an account — this cookie is required for the site to work and is not used for advertising.

Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to external websites such as DBE resources, YouTube, WhatsApp, Google, Paystack, and social media platforms. When you open those links, you leave our website and their own privacy policies and terms apply. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

Use by Minors

Much of this website is used by learners under 18. We only collect the minimum information needed to run an optional account, and we do not knowingly collect additional personal information about a child beyond what a parent or guardian provides directly. Parents and guardians are welcome to contact us to review, correct, or delete a learner's account information at any time.

Your Rights (POPIA)

Under POPIA, you have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to request that we correct inaccurate information, to request deletion of your account and associated data, and to object to certain uses of your information. To exercise any of these rights, email chriszamisa4@gmail.com from the address on your account. If you believe we have not handled your information properly, you may also lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
